The Gate (17th May 2023)

A big thank you to Mark Ollier for giving us permission to use his expertly taken photographs of flying at the Gate in May 2023. Unusually for this time of year the wind has turned North Westerly which means it was cold, as you can see from the picture of Ivan who was well wrapped up for the occasion.

Interesting planes on display are the Reno Racer built by Richard Pollard for Adrian Beal, made of corrugated plastic together with scale models of Phil Stone, which will no doubt make an appearance at this weekend’s PSSA meeting on the Orme in Llandudno. Also shown is Ivan’s Halfpipe, which he still flies because he can land it at his feet, and does not have to let the valley conquer his legs.

In one of the pictures is an interestingly finished Ahi belonging to father and son Clive and Pete Sharp. I would like to know how that was done. Comments welcome on Facebook
