Here is a letter of thanks we received from RAFMAA for the use of our slopes for their weekend of fun flying
“Good evening Keith, Gentlemen,
Greetings once again from the RAF Model Aircraft Association. I hope this email finds you all well.
My apologies that it has taken so long to send this email. I’m afraid I have had rather a busy month with work and am only now just catching up with my RAFMAA correspondence.
I just wanted to send you a quick message to thank you and your members for once again allowing us to come along and fly with you at your wonderful series of flying sites. It is fair to say that this year we probably couldn’t have chosen a worse weekend to come along and visit what with torrential rain, icy winds and heavy mist all coming to together to truly test our metal over the course of the event! However, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves when we managed to get airborne and the few LMMGA members who were mad enough to join us on the slopes were as friendly and welcoming as ever. It’s always a pleasure to meet fellow enthusiasts and being able to fly with some of the dedicated “slope men” in the LMMGA and see some of your models is quite inspirational.
Due to the weather we (again) weren’t able to run any of the competitions or do any BMFA Achievement Scheme testing that we had planned, but we did manage enough flying to warrant a mini event report for our newsletter, an excerpt of which I have included as an attachment. Not quite to the standards of last years version maybe but you may enjoy reading it nontheless. I have also attached a few photo’s too, from which you should be able to get a gist of just how wet we got in pursuit of model aviation! You might note, Ian Pallister (Chairman of the BMFA) huddled in the bivvie along with our own Chairman, Squadron Leader Hamilton and RAFMAA veteran members Neil Tricker and Colin Waite.
Kind regards,
