Some or all of you will have received an email from the BMFA announcing that finally the Civil Aviation Authority have agreed the final format of the rules for Civil Aviation Authority licensing.
As most modellers know the rules have been established after much hard negotiation. Other articles have been published both on this site and the BMFA.
Without going into copious detail you need approval and certification to fly by either taking a BMFA Test, or passing the CAA competency test which is a simple online procedure.
You will be issued with a Flyer’s ID only if you pass the competency test. If you are an A or B Test succeeder then you will simply receive an Operator’s ID.
I have created a special page entitled National Flying Rules which you can access here.
I commend to you the Quick Start Guide which is a pdf file easily printable then laminated for storing in your rucksack just in case you are challenged.
Good luck if you are challenged. I think the hoo haa caused by the new rules has just about simmered down.
Obviously your Operator’s ID should be displayed on your plane but is printed on your membership card.
