Scale Fly-In 2015
Saturday, 31 October 2015
This year’s weather wasn’t quite as kind as last year’s. Saturday started off with a cold North West wind; ideal direction for the gate. The problem for these large scale planes flying at the gate is landing particularly with most of the pilots not familiar with the site. The other problem is the restricted parking

South Slope of the Orme Flying
Friday, 21 August 2015
Yesterday (20th August 2015) was the sort of day where you wonder whether to fly because the forecast is changeable. I am staying at our caravan in Anglesey where there are some reasonable slopes round Holyhead mountain, and Church Bay, but nothing to compare to the Orme, which is a 1 hour drive. Often the

Scale Day 2013
Friday, 07 August 2015
I can only imagine that once again our Scale Day over the weekend of August 17th and 18th was a great success. I cannot bear witness to its triumph because I was away in Anglesey at the time (I did want to attend but it would not have scored me many brownie points). It is,

Mermaid Pool – all is revealed
Monday, 01 June 2015
Do you recognise this picture? – it is taken by the side of the Mermaid Pool, which I began to investigate, when I was writing a build blog on the RCM&E Site about my latest model, the Top Model Ideal – here. I didn’t realise that there were so many rumours attached to the pool. If

Stunning Lift at North West Slope of Holyhead Mountain
Monday, 25 May 2015
Today, once again I ventured to the North West Slope of Holyhead Mountain. The lift is smooth cliff like sea sourced air, and any plane in any strength of air, almost would rise and rise. It is easily as good as the Orme. Below you are the famous Gogarth climbing cliffs. There is heather and

Holyhead Mountain North West Slope
Saturday, 26 July 2014
A few weeks ago I told you about a new site I had found just south of South Stack Lighthouse on Holyhead Mountain, which faces the direction of Trearddur Bay. You can read my news story here. Over the last two weeks the wind in Anglesey has been North West or West North West, so further

South Stack Holyhead Mountain Flight
Saturday, 05 July 2014
The lads from the Lleyn Flying Club told me they have flown off the South West slope of Holyhead mountain near the bird observatory but I have not flown there until very recently. The wind was in a WNW direction initially, so I parked at the top of the South Stack lighthouse steps and walked

PSS at the Orme (2014)
Sunday, 13 April 2014
Keith and I attended the first day of the PSSA weekend meeting at the might Orme in Llandudno. A large collection of entnthusiastic knowledgeable individuals attended, including Andy Ellison and crew with their collection of Jarts and mouldies. Indeed they flew more than the PSS boys. The wind at the edge of the South West

PSSA Meeting in Abersoch
Sunday, 11 August 2013
Today was a PSSA event organised by Phil Cooke and Cocker, and hosted by Lleyn MAC on the Lleyn Peninsula. The day was warm and wind square on their West Slope blowing about 18mph. I had never attended a PSSA event but had heard good things about them. People had turned up from as far afield
